Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026. This policy describes what information WithoutWith (withoutwith.com) collects, why, and your choices. The short version: this is a read-only information website with no user accounts, no comments and no checkout, so we collect very little.

Information we collect

Server and analytics data. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers process technical data when you visit: pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, referring page, and the time of your visit. This data is used in aggregate to understand which articles are useful and to keep the site working. We do not build advertising profiles of individual visitors.

Email you send us. If you contact us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use it to reply and for no other purpose; we do not sell or share it, and we do not operate a marketing mailing list from contact emails.

Cookies and advertising

The site itself sets no tracking cookies. When display advertising is enabled, advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented to them in your own Google settings. You can control this through your browser settings and Google's ad settings. Affiliate links may use retailer cookies to attribute a purchase; those cookies are set by the retailer under its own privacy policy.

Third-party links

Articles link to regulators, reference databases and retailers. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Data retention and your rights

Aggregate analytics are retained for up to 26 months. Contact emails are retained only as long as needed to handle the correspondence. Depending on your jurisdiction (including the Australian Privacy Act and, for European visitors, the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you — in practice, that is limited to emails you have sent us. To exercise any right, email contact@withoutwith.com.

Children

This site is written for adults making household purchasing decisions and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it on this page.

Analytics in more detail

Aggregate analytics tell us which articles are read, roughly where readers are (country or region, not street level), which sites referred them, and what device class they used. Individual visit records are not combined with any identity — this site has no accounts to combine them with — and analytics data is never sold. If you use a browser extension or setting that blocks analytics scripts, the site works exactly the same for you; we simply know slightly less about how it is used.

Advertising cookies in more detail

When display advertising runs on this site, it is served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google's Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com), and learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services in Google's own privacy documentation. Where consent is legally required before advertising cookies are set — for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK — a consent mechanism will be provided and non-essential cookies will not be set before consent. Rejecting advertising cookies does not affect your access to any content on this site; ads simply become less personalised.

Affiliate cookies in more detail

When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set a cookie that attributes a later purchase to this site so a commission can be paid. These cookies are set and governed by the retailer, typically expire within days to weeks, and contain no information from us about you. You can clear or block them in your browser at any time without affecting the prices you pay.

Your rights in more detail

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, visitors in Europe additionally have rights to erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In practice the personal information we could hold about you is limited to emails you have sent us and, in server logs, your IP address. To make any request, email contact@withoutwith.com from the address concerned; we respond within 30 days at the latest, and usually much sooner. We do not charge for requests.

Data security and international processing

The site is served over HTTPS. Email and analytics are processed by established service providers whose infrastructure may be located outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe; by contacting us you understand your message may be processed in those locations. No system is perfectly secure, but the surest protection here is structural: a site with no accounts, no payments and no comment database has very little to lose.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because this site sets no tracking cookies of its own, there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off at our end. Third-party advertising behaviour is governed by the choices described in the advertising section above.
